Music Monday.

While partaking in a YouTube marathon music session,  I came across LA based pennybirdrabbit. Her latest EP, For Love, is going to be in heavy rotation for this little lady. Below is the video for "look for love," which is my favorite track. Enjoy!  :)

Things I'm Loving Lately.

Fadeaway Records 10: Friends [vinyl//digital download]. Thirty-seven tracks featuring a slew of awesome artists, including a few bands born on the island [brand new, head automatica, the narrative, straylight run]. Not only is the vinyl beautiful, but the selection for this compilation is excellent. I mean, I knew it was going to be good, but this exceeded my expectations. Proceeds from the sales will be distributed to a number of cancer research charities, so you're doing a good deed at the same time.

Netflix. Oh, where would I be without Netflix? I finally finished Breaking Bad [ugh, so good it hurts], so I've ventured into the land of rom-coms//drams. Some are good. Some are bad, but still good in that "I grew up on Disney flicks + have a glimmer of hope for a storybook romance" kinda way. Also, sports ones = best ones.

X vs Y: A Culture War, A Love Story [paperback//kindle]. Snagged this the other day + even though I'm only a chapter in, I love it. Eve + Leonora Epstein, lets snag coffee + talk about the 90s, pleasethanks.

Coloring. Sounds juvenile, but there is just something so soothing about creating something unique within the lines created by another. Crayola markers + colored pencils are the weapons of choice as I zone out until my hand cramps.

Tattify Lightspeed Set. I've been talking about getting a Star Wars tattoo for quite some time, but lack of funds + major indecisiveness have delayed the dream. $15 for 12, plus free shipping? Yeah, I'm gonna have to try these.

coffee + cigarettes.

sitting on my deck, half asleep with a cup of black coffee + a cigarette in hand.

this is when i miss you the most.

memories of chilly autumn afternoons when we would sleep in + only attempt to emerge from the covers after a successful romp in the sack.

you'd walk into the kitchen + make me coffee - breakfast if we were feeling adventurous.

i'd sleepily stand there, thinking about how lucky we both were to have something so simple to smile about.

you'd hand my mug off to me as you made your own + i'd struggle to open the sliding glass door with full hands.

i would sit on the bench + light my cigarette, alternating between drags + cautious sips as to not burn my tongue, while my mind wandered to wonderland.

the sound of the sliding glass door jolted me back to reality, which was far more satisfying than the daydreams that swirled through my mind.

Music Monday.

Brooklyn future folk trio Sons of an Illustrious Father recently released a video for "No Mercy." I stumbled upon it this weekend + had to share.  I think its my favorite track I've heard since discovering "Sanskrit" a year or so ago [older songs have been removed from their site, but are still up on SoundCloud].

They're playing a late show next at Mercury Lounge next Monday, March 24. Head over to Sons Of An Illustrious Father for details.

Music Monday.

Last night, I was aimlessly scrolling through Facebook + saw my friend Krista had shared a video from her band, Miles to Dayton. She and her husband, Jon, released the song "Broken Bones," from The Porcelain Sessions [which, after you see the video, you'll understand how awesome the title is]. Not only did the song put a smile on my face, but the interaction between this amazing couple [who have the cutest trio of daughters] makes your heart full - I love seeing people in love.
